About Dryad
We operate on the core tenets of experienced judgment, honest consulting, and practical solutions.
Dryad Biological Consulting, LLC is a woman-owned, senior-led biological and environmental consulting firm built around a straightforward idea: clients should have direct access to experienced professionals who understand both the environmental resources and the larger project.
Environmental requirements do not exist in isolation. They affect planning, engineering, permitting, schedules, construction, and long-term project delivery. Our role is to help clients understand those relationships, identify issues early, and make informed decisions based on practical, technically defensible information.
At Dryad, clients work directly with the people responsible for evaluating their project, developing recommendations, and standing behind the work. We provide focused attention, honest communication, and experienced professional judgment from the beginning of an assignment through its completion.
Senior-Level Expertise
Dryad’s technical work is led by Yancey Bissonnette, a senior botanist and biologist with more than 30 years of consulting experience, including biological resources, botany, habitat assessment, regulatory compliance, construction support, and geotechnical consulting.
That combination of biological expertise and broader project experience provides a practical understanding of how environmental decisions interact with design, permitting, field conditions, constructability, and schedule.
Dryad is managed by Amy Bissonnette, the company’s majority owner and Managing Member. Amy oversees company operations, client coordination, administrative management, and business development, helping ensure that clients receive responsive communication and dependable follow-through.
Together, Amy and Yancey have built Dryad as a focused consulting practice where professional responsibility remains personal and clients are not separated from the people performing and directing the work.
Our Approach
Every project begins with decisions.
Before recommending a survey, study, report, or permitting strategy, we work to understand the project itself. It’s individual objectives, design constraints, schedule, regulatory setting, and stage of development.
That broader perspective allows us to evaluate biological and environmental issues in the context in which they actually matter. Rather than treating technical work as an isolated requirement, we consider how the findings may affect project planning, engineering, agency coordination, construction, and future decisions.
Our goal is not simply to produce reports. It is to provide clear, useful information that helps clients move forward with confidence.
What Clients Can Expect
Clients can expect Dryad to be candid about what we know, what still needs to be evaluated, and what a project may realistically require.
We do not oversell services or recommend work simply because it can be performed. We evaluate what is appropriate for the project, explain the reasoning behind our recommendations, and identify when another specialist or resource may better serve the client’s needs.
Our work is grounded in:
Experienced professional judgment
Technically defensible methods
Honest and responsive communication
Practical recommendations
Focused senior-level attention
Respect for the project, the client, and the environmental resources.
We want every client to view Dryad not simply as a report provider, but as a trusted professional resource. The value of environmental consulting goes beyond completing surveys and reports. It lies in providing clear, reliable information that helps clients make informed decisions and move their projects forward.
Dryad provides the biological expertise, practical project perspective, and honest professional guidance clients need to understand environmental constraints, manage regulatory risk, and make sound decisions throughout the life of a project.
